There was a BUNCH of riots in 1967, and Dr. King knew that Black people wouldn’t burn down any land/buildings they own, but since they didn’t own anything they didn’t care about what they burned down.
So a Poor People’s Campaign was born in December 1967. This would let the government know that although the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts were signed, there was another issue: Poverty
