HISTORY:
After Virginia school segregation was ruled unconstitutional in 1959, Prince Edward County in VA responded by literally CLOSING all public schools, rather than including Black students.
Private schools were then created to teach white students.
Nobody cared about the Black students, so the first Freedom Schools were created…
